Blogpost numero uno.

First Blog, I can honestly say that I had an interesting opinion of “Blogs”, before I knew what they were. They are for SEO’s, that’s search engine optimisation, so essentially the words that are in the blog, correspond with what people search for in google. I’m sure the tech savvy people out there are rolling their eyes, roll away!

This blog, I am going to start with who we are, where we came from and start stories of the legends that have joined us. Then I am adding a list of words, because apparently, people haven’t heard of us and have trouble finding us. It probably has a lot to do with the fact that we don’t advertise. Flinn Design was named years after it was born. Simon Flinn grew up living for farming, in particular, sheep. He spent every free hour with his father and grandfather, farming. After school he systematically choose and moved between rural jobs that enhanced his incredible stock handling abilities. He started on a merino stud between Deniliquin and Hay in NSW, where he designed his first set of yards. Travelled to QLD where he contract mustered, fenced and designed yards. Travelled back to the Riverina, met Katherine (me).

The opportunity to expand his skills opened with a move to Hamilton in Vic, where Simon designed his first sets of yards professionally. He began his journey with CAD systems. Jump forward a few years and some time on the family farm, meanwhile Simon designing on graph paper for mates, the size of the yards reflected the payment, 1,2, or three slabs of beer. “Mates” designs were increasing with the wonderful word of mouth and in 2020, Simon and I decided that we were so proud of the work that he was doing, that we both threw ourselves into it full time. Flinn Design was born.

We based the core of Flinn Design on deep beliefs of honesty and integrity. This belief is still the core and followed by the amazing people who have joined us on our journey. The first legend that joined us is James Littlehales. Who Simon immediately nick-named Jimbob, and was delighted that the middle name Robert actually fitted. He has constructed and supported since 2017. We lose him this year, he follows his love to QLD. We are going to miss him, he has been a flawless contractor, amazing support, and a wonderful friend.
